🚌 OmniRide Celebrates 40 Years in Woodbridge TODAY
Here's today's most useful local event.
OmniRide is opening its Woodbridge Transit Center to the public today from 4–8 p.m. as part of its 40th-anniversary celebration.
Visitors can tour the facility and buses, meet operators and mechanics, visit food trucks and participate in raffles.
The Transit Center is at 14700 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge.
OmniRide's local network includes Route 91 in Dale City and Routes 92 and 94 serving Lake Ridge, making this a particularly relevant milestone for Spotlight readers.

Prince William County has appointed Duane Prophet as Director of Information Technology following a national search.

Prince William County has received two Commonwealth Technology Awards from the Virginia Information Technologies Agency.

🌎 New Regional Economic Alliance Includes Northern Virginia
Business and economic-development organizations across Greater Washington have formed the Potomac Regional Alliance, an effort designed to create a more unified economic-development strategy for the Washington region.
The alliance plans to develop what organizers describe as the region's first comprehensive economic-development strategy, bringing together business and development organizations from Virginia, Maryland and Washington.
For Prince William, the initiative is worth watching because regional business recruitment, transportation and workforce development rarely stop at county lines. More→

Prince William County police found themselves pursuing a rather unusual suspect Tuesday: a loose pig.
Video of officers trying to corral the wandering porker quickly attracted attention online.

📚 New Jennie S. Dean Freedom School Opens Registration
A new educational program honoring the legacy of pioneering educator Jennie S. Dean is coming to the Dumfries area. The inaugural Jennie S. Dean Freedom School begins October 10 and will offer 10 free sessions for adults exploring Black history, freedom, faith and community. Registration is now open.

The major temporary traffic change at Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road began Tuesday.
Most left-turn movements through the intersection are now restricted while construction advances on the new interchange. Through movements and right turns remain available.

🥩Apple Cinnamon Pork Chops
A sweet-savory dinner that captures fall in one skillet.
Ingredients (serves 4): 4 boneless pork chops • 2 apples, sliced • 2 tbsp butter • 2 tbsp brown sugar • ½ tsp cinnamon • Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions: Season pork chops with salt and pepper. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, sear chops 4-5 minutes per side until cooked through; remove and set aside. Add apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon to the same skillet, cook 5-6 minutes until softened. Return chops to the skillet, spoon apples over top, and serve warm.
